How to set default program to open certain file types?

Have you encounter difficulties in setting the default program to open certain files in your computer? Or don not know how to change the program to open certain file types? By reading this post, you might get some ideas to solve you problem.

You might see a white blank icon sitting on your desktop or when you click the file and it does not open the program that it suppose to open.

ID:	195 This icon is just for example only. You can see that it is supposed to be a .docx file which you might expect it to be open by Microsoft Word but it isn't. Instead it is open by WordPad.

So how to solve this by setting it to open by the correct application or program?

The most simplest and easiest way is to right mouse click on the icon and choose "properties" as illustrated below.

Click on "Change".

Then you choose the application or program that you want the file to be open and in this case, I select "Microsoft Word" and click "OK"

Notice that the icon has changed to Microsoft Word icon, click "APPLY" and then "OK"
